Payouts

BlueSnap pays merchants and platforms based on the payout configuration for each account.

  • Merchant payouts are deposits to a merchant’s bank account. They are based on the payout information collected during merchant onboarding, including bank account details, payout currency, payout method, minimum payout amount, and refund operating account settings.
  • Platform payouts are deposits to your BlueSnap production account for funds your platform receives from split payments or revenue-share arrangements.

Your platform does not initiate merchant payouts manually. BlueSnap calculates available funds, applies fees, refunds, reserves, chargebacks, and other adjustments before depositing eligible funds according to the relevant account’s payout configuration.

📘

Payout visibility to merchants depends on your merchant operations model. In a BlueSnap-managed experience, merchants can view payout information and reports directly in the BlueSnap Merchant Portal. In a platform-managed experience, your platform is responsible for showing merchant-facing payout information using BlueSnap reports, notifications, and the Reporting API.

How It Works

BlueSnap pays each merchant according to their payout configuration. After BlueSnap captures a payment, funds move through settlement and become available for payout.

Merchant payout timing can depend on:

  • Payout schedule
  • Payout method
  • Payout currency
  • Merchant region
  • Bank holidays
  • Minimum payout amount
  • Account-specific payout settings

The final deposit amount may be different from the gross transaction amount because BlueSnap applies fees, refunds, chargebacks, reserves, currency conversion, and other adjustments before payout.

Merchant Payout Setup

BlueSnap configures each merchant’s payout settings using the information provided during merchant onboarding. Merchant payout setup typically includes:

For supported payout currencies, refer to the Like-for-Like table in Supported Currencies. For payout methods by region, refer to Payout Methods by Region.

Minimum Payout Amount

The minimum payout amount is the minimum available balance required before BlueSnap issues a payout. If the merchant’s available balance is below the minimum payout amount, BlueSnap may hold the funds until the balance reaches the required threshold.

If your platform controls merchant onboarding through the API, set the minimum payout amount in bankingInfo.minimalPayoutAmount.

Refund Operating Account

The refund operating account contains funds set aside to help merchants issue refunds when their available account balance is low.

The balance accrues from sales. If the refund operating account is not fully funded, a portion of settled funds may be held back before the merchant receives a payout. After the refund operating account amount is met, additional eligible funds are applied to the merchant’s next payout.

Merchants with direct access to BlueSnap can update their refund operating account amount in BlueSnap. If your platform controls merchant onboarding through the API, set the refund operating account value in bankingInfo.refundReserve.

Platform Payouts

Your platform can receive funds from split payments or revenue-share arrangements.

Platform payout activity is separate from merchant payout activity. Merchants are paid according to each merchant’s payout configuration. Your platform is paid according to your BlueSnap production account setup and commercial agreement with BlueSnap.

Many of the same payout concepts can apply to platform payouts, including payout schedule, payout currency, payout method, bank holidays, minimum payout amount, fees, reserves, adjustments, and reconciliation reporting. The main difference is that merchant payouts are based on each merchant’s account setup, while platform payouts are based on your platform’s BlueSnap production account setup and commercial agreement with BlueSnap.

Payouts with Split Payments

With split payments, BlueSnap allocates captured transaction funds between the merchant and your platform, then pays each party according to its own payout configuration.

The merchant and platform may have different payout schedules, payout currencies, payout methods, minimum payout amounts, and account settings.

📘

Platform revenue-share payouts may follow a different schedule from merchant payouts and platform split-payment payouts. Revenue-share payout timing depends on your platform account setup and commercial agreement with BlueSnap.

View and Reconcile Payout Information

Your platform has its own BlueSnap production account. Use that account to view payout information for funds paid to your platform, including split-payment funds and revenue-share payouts.

For your own platform payouts, you can:

  • Log in to BlueSnap and view payout reports in the portal
  • Use the Reporting API to retrieve payout and reconciliation data
  • Track payout activity for funds received from split payments
  • Reconcile platform deposits to the related transactions, splits, fees, and adjustments
📘

Platform payout visibility is separate from merchant payout visibility. Merchant payout information is tied to each merchant’s account, while platform payout information is tied to your platform’s BlueSnap production account.

Payout Reports

Use reports to track balances, payout timing, payout status, and reconciliation details. The reports you use depend on whether you need balance visibility, planned payout timing, deposit reconciliation, or broader financial reconciliation.
